The Sentient Equality Pledge
Fair for everyone starts with counting everyone.
What it is
The Sentient Equality Pledge is FREE. It's a public commitment to show fairness with evidence across every protected characteristic in the Equality Act 2010 (age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation), including both sexes: men and women, fathers and mothers. It's not a slogan, and it's not a box to tick. It means you show your working.
What you commit to
- Track outcomes across protected characteristics, including both sexes. Count what happens to people across hiring, pay, progression and retention.
- Make reasonable adjustments. Handle adjustment requests from disabled staff fairly and on time (Equality Act 2010 ss20–22).
- Take all reasonable steps on harassment. Prevent it, act on it and support whoever is affected.
- Publish measurable objectives. Set clear targets that anyone can check.
- Review every year. Look at the numbers again, say what changed and set the next steps.
How it works
- Sign. Commit to the Pledge online. It takes minutes.
- Share your evidence. Share your aggregate outcome data (totals only, no personal details about individuals) and your objectives.
- We review it. Sentient checks your evidence against our published criteria. Read the review criteria.

Check any organisation
You can check listed organisations on our public register, or email us and we'll confirm the status of any organisation displaying the mark within 5 working days. Displaying the mark means the organisation agrees that Sentient may confirm its status to anyone who asks.
How long it lasts
The mark is valid for 12 months from the review date, with a 30-day grace period to submit your annual review. If the annual review isn't completed, the mark lapses and must be removed within 14 days.
